About Schola Gothia
Schola Gothia is a vocal group of four female singers. The group was founded in 1999.
When we sing we strive to make the music from convent manuscripts come alive. That is why we always use original manuscripts, when available.
The beautiful handwritten music conveys a treasure that is well worth discovering. The melodies carry the meaning of the words. You get a vision of the composer´s intentions. We often use a large music-stand, which is of great help, since the unison music requires a vocal concordance and intonation. It facilitates a joint phrasing also in the polyphonic music, with all its often harsh dissonances and empty intervals.
Schola Gothia participated in:
The Choir festival "Riga Dimd" Latvia, September 1999
The Music festival in Smarano, Italy, June 2000
